YOLANCRIS

The Barcelona based brand Yolancris put on an exquisite runway show featuring stunning colorful gowns & suits. This collection was inspired by the stories of Edgar Allan Poe, as demonstrated by the bright colors contrasted with some dark hues. “Hidden, tenebrous, darkly romantic with a Gothic touch” as described in their press release. Silk, organza, lace and embroidery in red, black, white & multi-colored pieces – each so very different from one another, yet they created a cohesive collection. Each model wore a beautiful head piece that matched the outfit, further pulling together the entire runway. The intricate work and…

YANINA COUTURE

Yanina Couture’s runway show depicted two queens from two different eras of time. The 1st one being Queen Elizaveta Petrovna, who was known as a fashionista, and who never wore the same outfit twice – 15K dresses were inherited from her. She valued art, culture & science. The 2nd one was Queen Victoria, who valued reputation above all else, she was polite and restrained. She was the 1st one to wear a white wedding dress! [What a fun fact – she started the trend that lasted over decades and will likely continue for centuries] Yanina did an amazing job creating…

CELIA KRITHARIOTIS

My favourite Paris Couture Week runway show was hands down that of Celia Krithariotis! From the ballerina that opened the show to the amazing creations covered in pearls, sequin feathers and embroidery, to the music choice & the beautiful models. It was entertaining, classy & sophisticated. Inspired by her childhood and her music box, Celia created a stunning collection of silk, tulle, lace and organza dresses & two pieces. Femininity & grace reigned on this runway. The main colours were beige, blush, black, navy, silver & grey. Short, midi & maxi dresses, ha-lo, two pieces & cutouts. It was a…

PARIS COUTURE WEEK OUTFIT 2

Can Paris be more picture perfect? From residential homes to the main landmarks, the entire city is like a post card. I’ve been taking photos for the blog for a couple of years now, and if there is one thing that never fails is a good backdrop. There is no arguing that the Arc de Triomphe is both Instagrammable and surreal at the same time. Perfectly located at the edge to the Champs Eyssees, its size is both imposing and mesmerizing. Even though I have grown used to seeing it daily since our hotel was on the same street, it…

FARHAD RE SHOW

The first Paris Couture Week show I attended was Farhad Re and I knew I was in for a treat when I received the invitation in the mail, which was printed on a piece of fabric: a teal folded organza. The show took place in the stunning Embassy of Italy in France, which from the inside, looked a little bit like a castle. Gold ornate walls, gold chairs with red cushions, stunning mirrors all around – I truly felt like a princess. I sat front row and thus were able to enjoy the full splendour of this romantic collection. The…

PARIS COUTURE WEEK OUTFIT 1

Paris, je t’aime. There are a handful of cities in the world that I would visit over and over again and Paris is at the top of the list! I’ve been to Paris 5 times now and every time I go, I fall in love with this city more and more. I cannot pinpoint one single reason why I love this city so much, it’s a combination of everything: the effortlessly chic fashion & the amazing shopping, the food (cheese, fois gras & bread are my weaknesses), the stunning architecture at every single corner, the noise of the city…I just…

WHAT TO WEAR TO AN INTERVIEW

First impressions are everything! We can fool ourselves all we want that looks don’t matter and we’re not judgmental, but it’s part of our DNA & it’s human nature – pure and simple. According to Psychology Today: “In fact, first impressions snap into place in just seven seconds […] We tend to get attached to our initial impressions of people and find it difficult to change our opinion of them. As a result, it’s important to be aware of how we come across to others during a first meeting” As such, first impressions can make or break your interview, no…
