I hate leaving the house with no make up on. I mean think about it, the world is so small (especially Montreal), you never know who you might run into ! I don’t mean I always put a ton of makeup every time, just a little foundation or bronzer or at least some mascara will do the trick! What I recommend however is to have a daily routine. Something quick that will make you run out of the house in 5-10 mins. For today’s post, I decided to share my daily make up routine. This is pretty much what I wear everyday to work and just touch it up for a more dramatic look if I have an event in the evening.
1- Tarte Maracula concealer: I swear by it, the best concealer ever! I get tons of freckles during the summer, everyone finds them cute on me, but ME! Especially this huge one I get on my nose every summer! Once a upon a time my sister looked at me and said: “what’s wrong with your nose” and that did it for me! I practically ran to Sephora the next day & hunted down what I think to be the best concealer after spending numerous hours at the store and trying out everything they had. This Tarte Maracuja concealer is light and provides amazing coverage! Nose freckle was gone like summer in Mtl (lol sorry I just had too…) No but seriously, it hides every imperfection! I usually apply it with my fingers, I think it works better than using the brush. The product retails for $30 and it lasts for several months, even though I use it everyday!
2- Dior Airflash spray foundation: I am a VIB Rouge (please don’t judge me, lol) and so I get my makeup done there quite often for events when I’m too lazy to do it myself…hahaha! So I bought this foundation during one of those makeup sessions b/c 1- how cool is a spray foundation? and 2- the coverage is amazing! It’s very light, almost like a tinted moisturiser – basically feels like you have nothing on your face. The only drawback is that you need to be very careful in applying it so as to not waste it. I usually spray it directly on the foundation brush, very closely with a kleenex behind to avoid a mess. If you do it right, you don’t waste any of the product. The product is pricey, about $60, but flawless!
3- Tarte Amazon bronzer: I have a fair complexion so I rely on a bronzer to give life to my face! I was looking for a new bronzer as some of the ones I used gave an orange look rather than a bronzed look. Since I liked other Tarte face products I decided to give this one a go and I love it! The color is perfect & it stays on all day! The texture is soft & firm. It really gives me that sun kissed glow. It retails for about $36 & is definitely worth the money.
4- Bobbi Brown pink blush: As is the case with bronzer, I also like to switch up my blush! Once again since I am so pale, I like to use bright colors to bring some brightness to my face and this Bobbi Brown pink blush is perfection! The funny thing is that I got this palette in exchange of 500 points at Sephora and I think it was the best points I have ever spent. I also love the eyeshadows in this palette and often combine them with the Naked 3 palette shadows when I’m on the go & want a more dramatic eye, since the other palette is too big to carry around.
5- Anastasia Beverly Hills eyebrow wiz: I cannot believe it, but I used to never fill out my browns! I guess it’s b/c I never gave it a try, I was sort of scared of it, until a make up artist did it for me one time and I was sold! Eyebrows frame your face and I think it’s important that they look their best! Since trying out the Anastasia eyebrow pencils, I’ve been hooked. I used to use the pencil until the wiz crayon came out! It’s amazing & gives a flawless look, I love it! It retails for $27 & lasts for a few months, but less than the pencil.
6- Nars lid primer: If you want your eye shadow to hold all day, and look good for that matter, you must use a primer! I have tried quite a few primers in the past, but I could never get it right. Some were too pigmented and thus changed the color of the eyeshadow, others were too caky, and still others simply did not hold the eyeshadow in place and created clumps – not fun! Finally I tried this Nars lid primer – the transparent color is perfect as it doesn’t clash with the eye shadow & it hold pretty much all day without clumps. It retails for $29 and last for a few months. You really don’t need much to cover the entire lid; just a dab.
7- MAC eye shadow as eyeliner: I don’t like to use a pencil as an eyeliner, I feel it’s too harsh for blue eyes and fair complexion. I like to use a black eye shadow instead. It applies easier & looks a lot softer. I have been using a MAC black eye shadow for a while now and it works perfectly so I have no reason to switch :) Their eye shadows retail for $16 but can last over a year!
8-Naked 3 palette: I am a palette junkie! It’s the 1st thing I gravitate towards when I enter a makeup store. I don’t know what is it about them – the beauty or the usefulness, I’m not sure! I got this one for Christmas, and I have been using it religiously ever since! I love all the colors and pigments, as well as the soft texture of the eyeshadows. I think the colors are perfect for blue eyes – pinks & browns look great and make the eye pop. This palette is great for daytime as well as nightime. You can use the lighter shades for work & the darker shades to create a smokey dramatic eye for a night out. The only drawback of this palette is its size, as it’s not easy to carry on the go, otherwise, I love it!!! It retails for about $64.
9- Make up forever lipstick: Perfect for that natural lip! It’s a nice light pink neutral color that completes the look. I love the texture & its moisturizing capabilities! It’s pretty long lasting, but you still need to re-apply at least once – more if you eat or drink, but that’s normal. It lasted me a couple of months and I need to buy a new one as this one is almost finished- it’s the 1st time I finish an entire lipstick. Usually I get through lipgloss fast, but I seem to have switched from gloss to lipstick lately, so my lipsticks are taking the hit, lol. It retails for about $23, which is not bad for lipstick.
10-Kode Cosmestics lipstick: For that pop of color – see the full review HERE. Perfect, love it, retails for $16!
11- Lancome Hypnose mascara: I have tried all kinds of mascaras, I’m pretty sure I tried them all, lol. Nothing really compares to this one, according to me. I think it creates volume and elongates my lashes. I have long but very blond lashes so you canot see them when there is no mascara one, but once I put this one on, it definitely makes them stand out. On days when I have events in the evening, I also put on a coat of Younique 3D fiber lash mascara for more volume & length. I usually get the Hypnose mascara at the L’Oreal sale in a gift set including eye liner & makeup remover for $19 – a very good price for mascara!
That’s it ladies, my full daytime make up routine! Let me know if you have any more questions or comments :)
Have an amazing week!
