The first Paris Couture Week show I attended was Farhad Re and I knew I was in for a treat when I received the invitation in the mail, which was printed on a piece of fabric: a teal folded organza. The show took place in the stunning Embassy of Italy in France, which from the inside, looked a little bit like a castle. Gold ornate walls, gold chairs with red cushions, stunning mirrors all around – I truly felt like a princess. I sat front row and thus were able to enjoy the full splendour of this romantic collection.
The story told by this runway show was that of a future where women flee a resource depleted Earth for a new planet, leaving behind everything except for humanity’s most precious gift: culture. As such, the designer focused on silk ribbons and folded organza, reminiscent of pages of a book and nude simple colors contrasted by a harsh black colors to tell the story of femininity clashed with bravery and independence. Sophistication combined with mystery reigned over this runway. Each creation was more intriguing than the other and I felt very privileged to be in that room to watch the show unfold. This was a great start to my Paris Couture Week adventure.
Here is a sample of my favourite looks form the Farhad Re runway show.
