MIXIT

I’m a foodie. Hands down, food is one of the best things in the world according to me! I am always on the lookout for something new & delicious. I don’t believe in diets, but I believe in healthy eating – it’s simply not true that you cannot eat food that is both yummy & healthy but it’s not always easy to find. On top of being a foodie, I am also a huge breakfast/brunch lover but finding healthy options are not always easy. Don’t get me wrong, I love eggs, but I cannot eat them everyday! Browsing through the cereal aisle at the grocery store is also quite depressing, b/c most of the boxes either don’t have the mix I want or they are loaded with sugar, which takes away from any other health benefits they might have. As a result, I pretty much gave up on cereal for a while, until last week when I was introduced to mixit, a Canadian based company that offers a really cool online product.

The gist of it is that you create your own cereal mix, based on the ingredients you love & the health benefits you are looking for. The company prides itself at offering great taste, good quality ingredients and a fun experience! I had so much fun creating two tubes of cereal! You choose your base, which you can then widen with other cereals such as organic quinoa puffs or honey granola, then you add any dry fruit you like (or skip that step if you don’t like dried fruit), any seeds or nuts you like and then any extras, such as dark chocolate flakes or chocolate covered blueberries. Every time you add an ingredient, your nutrients get calculated, so you know exactly what you have in your mix in terms of carbs, protein, sugar, etc. In addition, mixit has a description of each item & the health benefits associated to that item. For example, pumpkin seeds “help to restore iron levels in the body to enhance physical and mental performance” – that is something I did not know! When you’re done creating your mix, you get to name it! The name will appear on the ingredients label in the back of the tube. You also get to select the color of your tube :) Overall, the tubes are about 700G, and are bigger than they appear on the pictures! The delivery is super fast. I placed my order on Monday and it arrived Wednesday! Above are the pictures of the tubes I created! :) Here is their composition:

Both are delicious but I prefer the WCX Energy Kick to the Working Chix Fix b/c I widened the base more and the all bio high fiber base is really good. The only thing I would change if I had to do them over would be to add more extras to the Working Chix Fix – more chocolate covered blueberries and dried bananas. Basically, I would have taken double the extras! I like to eat my cereal dry or with yogurt & fresh fruit. I know, I’m weird, but I hate milk. So, for me, it’s important that the cereal is good to eat as is, and this one definitely meets this criteria :) In terms of price, it’s definitely a little premium, but you pay for what you get – quality ingredients!
