MONTREAL’S HIDDEN GEMS

_C6A9901 _C6A9971M Salon: There is nothing I love more than discovering Montreal (and vicinity)’s hidden gems! Funny how small the city seems, yet how many places are still left to discover. One of these gems is M Salon – rooted in Griffintown, the salon has gained a lot of popularity over the past year & opened a second location in Nun’s Island’s new & upcoming neighborhood. During the salon’s official grand opening event, I was greeted by friendly & helpful staff who gave me a manicure that honestly lasted over a week! Needless to say, it made my life easier that week ;) Girls from the neighborhood kept on saying how much a salon like this was needed in the area, and how often they will be visiting. M salon is a “one stop shop for all things beauty”, offering nail & hair services at an affordable price & in a very trendy setting – I highly recommend! For more info, visit: http://www.m-salon.ca/

During my visit to Nun’s Island, I was also invited to take a tour of the Pointe-Nord neighborhood. The idea behind this new construction is to offer country living a few minutes away from the city. This tour definitely made me see Nun’s Island in a brand new light! I used to see it as a place for retirees, but Poite Nord seems to be a place for young professionals working downtown, who are interested in building a community & meeting the neighbors!

Les Enfants Terribles: One of these meet up spots is Les Enfants Terribles restaurant! Located at the edge of the island, it offers succulent brunch & dinner options. I had dinner at this restaurant before at their Bernard street location and fell in love with their salmon tartar, as well as their mac & cheese! This time around, I was invited to try out their brunch menu & I brought my mom with me!  Amongst their wide selection of dishes, we both chose the chocolate & banana waffles (like mother like daughter, we always had a sweet tooth, lol!). They tasted delicious, but to be honest I would recommend you ask to have the chocolate on the side so you get to control how much you put on the waffle, as I found it was a bit too chocolaty for my taste. Contrary to my dish, my mom had a perfect balance on her plate – so it really does depend on what you like! The staff was very friendly & the service was fast. I will definitely be returning – chocolate on the side :P For more info, visit: http://www.jesuisunenfantterrible.com/

Bois et Cuir: If you think of re-decorating, this is the place to visit! Regardless of your style or price point, the store caters to all. Located on St-Hubert street, which has been undergoing a major revamp with new boutique & bar openings, Bois & Cuir offers modern & vintage style furniture and accents. Rustic & country, yet modern & chic, the store is like an eye candy – very hard to walk out of there without taking a handful home! I had the opportunity to celebrate their 1st year anniversary & enjoy great music, delicious food & awesome drinks at their boutique! I fell in love with a beautiful crystal chandelier for my future mansion :) This spot is definitely a must see! For more info, visit their FB page by clicking HERE.

Bota Bota: How to escape city life without leaving the city? Head over to Bota Bota! Located in the heart of Old Port, this spa offer stunning views of the old city in a relaxing atmosphere. This summer, skip the bar & head over to the spa for their famous Urban Drift Thursdays – $35 water circuit access & $6 sangrias every Thursday night! I was invited to the opening event & had the opportunity to check out their new water circuits & enjoy a delicious bbq with sangria. On the menu was a gazpacho soup, grilled calamari, chorizo & kebab, served with vegetables. It was absolutely delicious & left me yearning for seconds! As for the water circuits, a picture is worth a thousand words – see above! For a full schedule of their other events, click HERE!

Have fun exploring Montreal!

Kisses,

WCX

Fantastic photos. Who knew! I went to Montreals two years ago for annual Le tour de l’ile and we didn’t venture to any of these locations. Clearly our loss. Loving this post.
