Last Wednesday, I had the opportunity to attend a fantastic event – the launch of Dot & Lil’s Spring 2015 Collection. The event took place in a hidden gem of the Villeray: Boutique Articho, where bloggers & you tubers flocked to get a first look at the new collection. It was the 1st time I was introduced to this brand of bath, body & home products. This Montreal-based company was founded 7 years ago by the lovely & charming Anne Dardick, and it thrives itself at producing 100% handmade soaps, body washes, bath milks & salts, as well as other skincare & home products. Dot & Lil uses local materials in it’s production, in order to support local businesses, as well as to make their products fresh & without preservatives.
Dot & Lil’s inspiration for their Spring Collection surrounds ‘vintage’. Be it vintage tea cups filled with candle, or old fashioned milk bottles filled with bath milk – the inspiration is well apparent. Other inspirations are honey (body wash in an adorable bear bottle or yellow honey soaps with a beehive emblem) & lilac scents (soaps, body butters & candles). Everything from this new collection will be available for purchase as early as this week on their website: http://www.dotandlil.com or at their retailers (please see website for details).
Below are a few samples I received to try out the new collection. I had a great time trying each and one of these products & here are my thoughts.
Green tea & meroli soap: I will be honest, I usually hate soaps – they make my skin dry, so I always use liquid soaps for my hands and body wash in the shower. But, I decided to give this one a try – 1st the amazing scent captivated my attention, 2nd, I had tried and loved Dot & Lil’s liquid soap and Anne assured me that the ingredients were the same. Needless to say, I really liked it! The perfume lingered well after I was dry & my skin did not feel itchy like it usually does with soap. I think I still prefer liquid in the shower – can’t wait to try their body wash – but I would definitely love to purchase this soap to wash my hands from now on.
Lilac & shea body butter: It’s very rich and it feels a little bit heavy on the skin when you 1st apply it but it gets absorbed extremely quickly and the skin is very smooth as a result. In addition, I barely used any of that sample, even though I put it all over my body. So, a little goes a long way with this product! I liked the scent & if lilac is something you love, you won’t be disappointed – perfect for Spring. However, having smelled the other body butters, I fell in love with some other scents which I now need to try :)
Rice flower luxury bath milk & rose petal bath salts: The reason why I am reviewing them together is b/c I used both of them in a very relaxing bath. I must admit, it was Cleopatra worthy with the rich milk powder & the aroma of rose petals. It smelled amazing and felt even better against my skin. It was the perfect remedy for my soar muscles post workout. I will surely be buying more bath milk as well as salts! These two were by far my favourite of the samples!
Lilac scented candle: Last but not least, this candle was burning during my bath and the smells just blended perfectly together – I felt like Spring was finally upon us…bliss! I don’t use a lot of candles, but after experiencing how soothing they are, I might just change my habits!
Overall, I love this new collection! I promise, you will not be disappointed!
