I admire strong, hard working women! I watched my mom raise me & my sister by herself in a foreign country, where she did not know the language yet provided for us nevertheless, making sure we are fed, clothed & got the best education. She also taught us an amazing set of values; be kind, be independent, be strong, be humble. In my eyes she is a hero, an idol, someone I strive to be everyday. She, and so many other independent, strong working women are the reason I write this blog.
Faith took its course a few weeks ago, when I 1st stepped into Annie Young Cosmetiques salon, located in the heart of Westmount. Yes, I was taken aback by the beauty of the salon, the various services offered & the uniqueness of makeup brands for sale, but what stroke me the most is the story behind the salon. Annie, a single mother raising 3 kids of her own, a makeup pioneer, build a business that she can be proud to call her own since 1988. The salon offers services such as make up application, facials, hair styling, etc. This little gem also carries make up lines such as Artdeco, Ellis Faas, era Everyday, Ilia, and many more including their very own Annie Young Cosmetiques brand! I was fortunate to try out two of the services they offer; I got my makeup done by Sharleen, Annie’s daughter. She is a fantastic woman & a pro at applying makeup! Needless to say, the service was impeccable! Without any guidance from me, she found the perfect colors and textures that went with my complexion & eye color. She also fixed my eyebrowns (I’m ashamed to say were long overdue, lol) & used some amazing false lashes to complete the look. You can see the finished look below! I was heading to my bday dinner afterwards, and it was safe to say I was party ready ;)
The second service I tried was a facial with Claudia. Ok, let me 1st say that I haven’t had a facial in years (oh God, I know) and I’ve been looking for a good place so this was just a perfect coincidence. The facial was simply Ah-mazing!!! Claudia is super sweet & she knows exactly what she is doing! The time flew by; the treatment was very pleasant & relaxing. It included cleansing, removal of black heads, moisturizing, as well as an upper body massage of face, hands, arms & shoulders. My skin was glowing afterward! She also gave me some awesome tips on how to hydrate my skin during the winter; “It’s all about the routine: cleansing, exfoliating & moisturizing. Apply a mask 1-2 times a week”. I must admit, it was hard to get up and go outside after such a relaxing treatment, I could have totally just napped right there and then!
Overall, I had an amazing experience at both counts, I can only recommend!
