HOW TO WEAR A MAXI IN FALL

It’s only natural to gravitate to dark pieces in fall, especially when the weather is so glum. But, regardless of the weather, the transition should be done smoothly and some summer pieces, such us the maxi dress can easily transition from summer to fall with a few tweaks. This post is meant to show you how to wear a maxi in Fall in 3 easy steps:

1- Footwear: Don’t be afraid to wear booties with a dress! They look great and will keep you warm. Boots could work too, but they cannot be chunky, otherwise the outfit might look sloppy. I believe booties work better, and if you still feel cold, adding thighs can solve this problem. Go for a black bootie with a darker dress like this, but opt for a light beige or grey if your maxi is a lighter shade.

2- Layers: Throw on your favourite layer – jacket or cardigan! I chose to pair this dress with a leather jacket for a more edgy look, but a denim jacket or a black cardigan would have worked as well. Once again, depending on the color of the dress, you might want to go with a lighter color on the top- either a beige or light grey cardi / jacket.

3- Accessories: Many options await! You can do a fedora hat like me and throw on a scarf if it’s cold. Since this dress already has a pattern that creates dimension, I suggest going with a neutral color in the scarf. The opposite would apply if the dress would be a neutral with no pattern. As for the bag and accessories, you can be creative ladies! Since the dress has so much visual interest, I decided to go light with the accessories. I chose this gold cuff with a dark blue stone to accentuate the cobalt in the maxi dress.
