There is always a rainbow after the storm! Montrealers know this better than anyone! After months of hiding indoors to escape a horrendous winter, there is nothing better than soaking up that Vitamin D on a terrace while sipping on your favorite drink! Whoever watched Games of Throwns will catch my drift here; similarly to their catch phrase “winter is coming”, ours is “terrace season is coming” :P Montreal is famous for its terraces and Montrealer’s love for them is undeniable when you see them fully loaded on a hot summer day. I had the opportunity to attend some amazing events at various terraces since summer has started and I wanted to share with you my experience & talk about some of my favorite spots to grab a drink or a bite to eat!
LABARAKE
If you’re looking for a quiet place away from the city center, where there is no traffic and parking is no issue, head over to Labarake. Located in the East of Montreal, this barrack-like restaurant has succulent food, delicious drinks & a very spacious terrace! I was invited to their 1 year anniversary, where they served amazing tataki, beef tartar, fish and chips, among other amazing treats! The atmosphere was festive with balloons all over the dining area & beautiful people whose attire rose to the occasion. The event was very well organized and original, with their make it yourself rice pudding favors to take home! The service at the restaurant was impeccable & friendly. They definitely made it to the top of my list of favorite terraces. I also heard Labarake offers brunch – being a huge breakfast/brunch fanatic, I will definitely be trying that out!

LE NEWTOWN
Now, if the city center is much more your scene, then you cannot miss out on Newtown’s new mojito bar! Whether you like them simple or with a raspberry twist (like me, wink wink), there is a mojito with your name on it! Their rooftop terrace offers amazing views of downtown and their comfortable couches are sure to relax you. I was invited to their mojito bar opening a few weeks ago and being a huge fan of rasberry mojitos, I was in heaven. The drinks were flowing all evening long, and amazing ceviche was served round the clock! Not to mention other fun appetizers floating around! Another amazing event that made me fall in love all over again with Le Newtown! I will most definitely be returning there for date night or a girls night out – or most likely both! :P
Location: 1476 Rue Crescent, Montréal, QC H3G 2B6
TERRASSES BONSECOURS
Another very popular destination for Montrealers is the Old Port. Its European flare gives it that ‘je ne sais quoi’! At the very edge is located the charming Terrasses Bonsecours. I have been to this place a couple of times and I loved it! With the beautiful view of Old Montreal, the terrace has fantastic drinks & great food! I was invited to their terrace opening, however a terrible gastro has prevented me from attending (major sadness as I think back), but nevertheless I felt the need to talk about it, since it’s a very popular destination and also one of my favorites! Below are some pictures from this tropical themed event that look absolutely amazing with flowers & fruit bars, food & drinks, and not to mention selfie sticks! Everyone who attend this event told me it was fantastic! Next time, Terrasses Bonsecours, I shall be there – no food poisoning, I promise! :)
Location: 364 Rue de la Commune O, Montréal, QC H2Y 1J3
SANTOS:
Another awesome terrace located in the heart of Old Port is Santos. Delicious tapas & drinks galore! I was invited to their Grand Prix weekend 5@7 and was greeted with a barrel of sangria! Yes, barrel, don’t believe me? I have pictures below to prove it :P It was strong too, don’t get fooled by the amount of ice! My finacé joined me for this occasion & we both had a great time socializing with beautiful interesting people! It was the perfect start to an awesome Grand Prix weekend. :))
Location: 191 Rue Saint Paul O, Montréal, QC H2Y 1Z5
I highly recommend all of the terraces above & I look forward to discovering more throughout the coming months! Cheers to summer!
