Happening Gourmand – the name says it all: food, food & more delicious food! I had no problem in temporarily ditching my diet last week to attend this media event, where we got a glimpse of some of the amazing dishes that are part of the reduced price lunch & dinner menus offered by 7 restaurants in Old Port from January 7th – February 7th (777 – is this a lucky number or what?) The participating restaurants are: Bevo bar & pizzeria, Modavie, Méchant Boeuf, Suite 701, Taverne Gaspar, Verses Restaurant, Vieux-Port Steakhouse & Kyo bar japonais. Some of these restaurants are known to me, and others I have discovered during the event. Below are some of my favorite entrees served that night: 
Salmon maki with avocado & cucumber – Kyo Bar Japonais – there was no way I could have just one! It was honestly one of the best sushi I had ever had in Montreal! I cannot wait to visit this restaurant! 
Salmon tartar – Taverne Gaspar: You have probably guessed it, I am a huge fan of raw salmon, be in in the form of a maki or a tartar! I eat salmon tartar quite often and at many different places, and I must say, this one was AH-mazing! They also served delicious mac & cheese with aged cheddar, but I was too busy eating it to remember to take a photo – so just keep in mind that it’s a must try ;)
Brownie pudding – Kyo Bar Japonais: A night is not over until you had dessert, especially one that feels like heaven in your mouth! I was afraid that this would be too sweet, but I was oh-so-wrong! It was the perfect balance of sweetness and I would have reached for seconds if I was not full from trying everything. But seriously, I.must.have.this.again!!!
And of course, the success of any night is determined by the crowd (like these awesome blogger chix below) & of course the right amount of cocktails ;)
