There are certain cities in the world so charming that you keep on coming back, that is the case for me with Rome (as it was Paris for that matter). I could really imagine myself living here, surrounded by history, delicious food and people who take the time to enjoy life! Located in the heart of Italy, barely an hour train ride from other major cities – it’s the centre of the action!
What I would do: I would grab a pizza and eat it while gazing at the Colosseum – far enough from the tourist cues, but close enough to admire its majestic allure & lose myself for a few minutes imagining what life must have been like thousands of years ago in Rome. I would then walk along side the main road leading to the Trevi fountain, the Spanish Steps or the Pantheon (alternating my path every now & then) and enjoy a gelato while admiring the structures. In Italy, people take siestas between 12 & 3pm, so I would have a ton of time to enjoy the city!
What I would wear: I would switch from my work outfit to something a lot lighter! It gets scorching hot in Rome around lunchtime, so this Wanderlujo bohemian dress is the perfect choice- easy breezy & super comfortable, not to mention that it perfectly matches the Roman ruins ;) When it gets hot like this, there is no choice to wear sandals & a straw hat!
What I would eat: PASTA.PIZZA. More pasta & more pizza :)) There are a few hidden gems near tourists attractions that are nice for lunch, but if you want to eat with the locals, I would head over near Piazza Trilussa on the other side of the Pote Garibaldi! There are tons of restaurants to pick from and the food is affordable & delicious! Opt for typical Italian dishes, don’t go for spaghetti with meat balls, b/c the locals will be sure to remind you that it’s not Italian and offer you their own plate, lol – true story!
