AH, NYFW – always a whirlwind of emotions & activities: creating one of a kind outfits that get noticed, running from show to show and trying to squeeze in as much time to enjoy NYC as possible! That’s NYFW in a nutshell, and I love every minute of it!
For my first NYFW outfit, I decided to put together three of my favourite trends from this season: leopard print, oversized blazers & belt bags! I started with this Apparis coat from Shopbop; I’m really obsessed with it lately so I knew it had to come to the Big Apple with me. Leopard print has been a big trend this Fall and it continues into Spring. To be honest, it almost feels like a neutral to me now lol, b/c there are just endless options of outfits that can be created with this leopard jacket.
I got this cream linen oversized blazer from Zara during the sales (also loving this ei8htdream check one from Shopbop) & I really wanted that jacket-over-a-blazer look, so these two just worked. Given the blazer’s length, it goes really well over faux leather leggings, so that was a no brainer. To pull the entire look together, I wanted to give it a pop of colour & since red is big this season, it seemed like the perfect colour choice for this Gumilu belt bag from Aldo. It’s adjustable like any belt so it can be worn over anything, including a bulky coat, which is what I did during this trip – I switched it to under the coat when I was indoors, and over the coat when I was running between shows in the cold. This belt bag is really convenient – fits all the necessities: wallet, cell, sunnies & lipstick ;) Not to mention that you can deconstruct the bag to wear it as a cross body bag if you wish!
For shoes, I really wanted to be comfortable this NYFW! Last year, I did too many heels and even with changing shoes in-between shows, my feet were exhausted. So, I went with these amazing Aldo leather combat boots! They are extremely comfortable and warm for cold weather, and I simply love the studs on the boots, which make them a lot more chic. I pretty much lived in those boots, wearing them to the airport while travelling, shopping, visiting my family while in the city and of course the entire 1st day of NYFW – great buy! As for the rest of the look, I added the following accessories to elevate it: baker hat & a delicate pendant. Stay tuned for the 3 other outfits and show coverage!
