I work in Fashion, so naturally I am drawn to trends, however Fall Fashion doesn’t have to be solely about trends, it should be about style & you can be stylish even if you’re discerning with trends, picking only those which fit your personal style. There is a difference between trends and style. Trends are seasonal and fade over time, especially fads (short lived trends). Style on the other hand is timeless, withstands the test of time, it’s classic, sophisticated, elevated & rich without being pretentious. Style is also very personal, so you should pick and choose what you like and what best fits your taste and body shape to celebrate all of your uniqueness. When you dress like yourself, you gain confidence, and nothing looks as good on you as your confidence ;)
Also, since I work from home now, I’m naturally gravitating to pieces that are both stylish & comfy, hence why I’m drawn to pants with an elastic waist or some stretch in their composition, as well as pieces that will keep me warm during this time period. Now, when I say “elastic waist” I’m not referring to sweats or leggings! Brands are now stepping up their game, creating collections that feature comfortable clothing, that is stylish so that you can “work from anywhere” – enter Reitmans [Ad]! They built a great Fall Collection to make you Zoom read from head to toe.
Here is a quick list of items that best describe what Fall Fashion means to me:
1- Fall Fashion is about knits: Chunky sweaters & cardigans. I love to tuck my knitwear in pants, jeans or skirts, as I find it just makes the outfit more interesting & elevated. I styled this Reitmans pink heather balloon sleeve buttoned-down cardigan perfectly tucked in with these Reitmans high rise tapered glen plaid pants. The pants are very comfortable, yet look amazing & they’re quite versatile.
2- Fall Fashion is about neutrals: Loving all the colors for fall: white/ivory, tan, beige, black, brown, grey, navy & olive green. Fell in love with this Reitmans short sleeve shirt collar tunic in color: chutny, which I styled with the same plaid pants & threw over the cardigan to create a Parisian chic look – comfortable, yet sophisticated and perfect for Fall.
3- Fall is about layering, mixing & matching: I created 2 outfits, using only 3 pieces of clothing – 1 pair of pants, two looks. This is what I love about Fall Fashion, as you can layer multiple pieces together to create new outfits. I also love mixing and matching new pieces with those I already own in my closet.
What I love about these 3 Reitmans pieces is that even though they are right on trend, they are also classic and will continue to be trendy in the years to come. I’ve been revamping my personal style in the past couple of months as I’ve been gravitating to neutrals and classics. I want my look to be more chic & sophisticated, but at the same time comfortable and effortless. What is your personal style?
