Last week, I had the privilege of getting spoiled at the amazing Ogilvy Fragrance Preview event, where I got to discover Fall novelties & exclusivities from Guerlain, Creed, Serge Lutens, Aqua di Parmo, Kilian, Atkinsons, L’artisan Parfumeur, & Annick Goutal. Among the discoveries was the new Guerlain counter that features their exclusive perfume collection at Maison Ogilvy, including the adorable bow tie bottle called “Mon Exclusif” & this stunning vintage bottle below called “Le plus beau jour de ma vie”. The reason that “Mon Exclusif” bears no name is to leave the liberty to each & every woman to name her own bottle and thus create her own relationship with the perfume. After all, emotions & perfume go hand in hand! Personally, I loved the smell of this perfume & the idea behind the purposeful name omission. As for the “Le plus beau jour de ma vie”, it is an exclusive wedding themed perfume designed for brides who will remember this special day at every spray! However, I must say that the bottle that stole the show was the infamous “L’Abeille aux ailes argent” featured on the picture above! The bottle is made out of Baccarat crystals, it’s worth $24,000 and there are only 50 such bottles in the entire world! Well, whoever said that Diamonds were a girl’s best friends, definitely hasn’t seen this perfume bottle yet ;)
Another brand that truly made an impression on me that night was Creed with it’s wonderful royal heritage. The brand, created in London, has been crafting fragrances for royal houses for over 250 years! If you are interested in history, this will certainly fascinate you! Starting with King George III in 1760, Creed crafted fragrances for queens, such as Queen Victoria & Empress “Sissi” Elisabeth, celebrities such as Audrey Hepburn & finally the general public in 1970. This company has been passed on from father to son for generations & retained the 4,000 year old infusion technique to capture the highest concentration of natural essential oils that preserves the originality of each scent’s ingredients, without the use of preservatives. The entire process is manual, from the perfume creation, to bottling, to the stickers. A beautiful and fascinating art indeed! Creed offers a wide range of perfume, so you are sure to find something to your liking! I sure did, the pink bottle commissioned for Audrey Hepburn was calling my name ;)
Another perfume that caught my eye was the Serge Luntes perfume by the Salvatore Ferragamo brand. He basically created this perfume for himself! What’s impressive about it? It has the most intoxicatingly beautiful smell of burning fire – simply dreamy! I sprayed a bit on my hand and I could not stop smelling it. The bottle retails for about $650, quite pricey, but if you’ve got the budget, I highly recommend. The scent stays on the skin for days, I could still smell it two days later, even after taking daily showers. Fabulous brand to re-discover for sure!
As with all Ogilvy events, the swag bags were amazing! Filled with amazing perfume & other goodies to highlight the fabulous event! Each bag had our names on it – the perfect touch!
Among the goodies was a beautiful perfume story coffee table book from Guerlain, filled with stunning pictures, samples of Creed, Kilian & Atkinsons perfumes & a Serge Luntes soap bar that smells heavenly – which I have not yet tested out, but I can’t wait! Also, among the gifts was a beautifully scented perfume bottle from L’Artisan Parfumeur called “Rose Privee”. It has a modern & exceptional scent, composed of the following notes: Violet Leaves, Basil, Blackcurrant, Green Mandarin, Rose Of May, Magnolia, Carnation, Lilac, Chypre Accord, Hay, Beeswax, Musk. I really love this perfume, it’s light & refreshing – perfect for a summer day!
Another beautifully packaged bottle was the Eau D’Hadrien by Annick Goutal, wrapped in a little gold bag! Citrus like scent of this eau de parfum is so refreshing, but a little strong for my liking at 1st. However, once applied to the skin, it blends in perfectly! I think many people get scared of perfume when they smell it on paper. The truth is that you can never tell if something suits you until you tried it on! The same thing that applies for clothes that you need to try on in the dressing room also applied to perfume – you may be pleasantly surprised that something that you never thought to pick out would suit you so well, and of course the opposite is also true! The most prevalent notes in this perfume are citrus fruit & cypress wood.
