St. Tropez bronzing mousse: Living in Canada, we’re all too aware of how little sun we get in winter! My skin in particular becomes very pale, so I like to add a little glow to my complexion with a self tanner. I prefer mousse to lotions or sprays as it allows for a more even application and no streaking. Skin can have differing reactions to self tanners and I’ve tried quite a few that either made me look orange or left too many streaks. This bronzing mousse agrees with my skin, it’s an even application, gives that natural sun-kissed glow & lasts for about 4-5 days. It’s lightweight, easy to apply and I use it on my face & body using an applicator glove.
La Roche-Posay sunscreen: Even with self tanner, you need to protect that skin everyday! Don’t get fooled by cloudy weather, those UV rays penetrate the clouds and trust me, I had my fair share of skin burns to know this to be factual. I apply a generous layer of the La Roche-Posay 100% mineral sunscreen to my face & neck (don’t forget the neck!) before applying my makeup to be fully protected. Love the texture of this cream (non-sticky), it absorbs quickly, it’s water resistant, scent-free, paraben-free, and provides high protection broad spectrum against UVA/UVB rays.
Jane Iredale Eye shadow Palette – in shade ‘The Basics’: I always start my makeup with the eyes, mostly because eye shadow powder typically falls on the face and if you start with the complexion, you’ll like need to re-do it. I love compact, versatile, quick & easy makeup palettes that have all the basics which allow for a base application (a light colour like vanilla) & top application (nice rich brown colour to make my blue eyes pop) and a blending colour (usually an in-between colour). I also like to use a very dark eye shadow to draw in my lash line instead of a pencil, I feel it gives a softer and more uniform look. I use the dark brown colour to draw in my brows, which helps me get the most out of a palette. This Jane Iredale’s one is perfect, it has all the colours I need, they’re well pigmented, matte & silky smooth, plus they last all day. It’s compact so it’s easy to travel with and talc free!
Jane Iredale Contour Kit: Once I’m done with the eyes, I apply concealer & foundation and then move on to contouring. This Jane Iredale contouring kit is an absolutely stunning sleek & mirrored rose gold compact and it has everything you need: highlighter, contour & blush. All three powder shades are easily bendable & I like to apply the contour 1st, followed by the highlighter and finish up with the blush on the cheeks.
Jane Iredale Lip Drink (shade: Flirt – comes in 7 colours): I always finish off the look with the lips and they usually require a good level of hydration which is exactly what you get with this Jane Irelade lip drink. It’s a moisturizing & protective lip balm broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 15 UVB/UVA.
Bioderma: At the end of the day, never forget to remove that makeup! I’ve been using Bioderma micellar water for years now and it’s still one of my top makeup removing picks! It’s so gentle to the eyes and removes the makeup from face & eyes without rubbing (even waterproof makeup); it’s great for all skin types, perfect if you have sensitive skin.
