To be honest, I did not need a new winter coat. I bought a Rudsak coat two years ago and it’s still beautiful and keeps me warm, but I could not resist when I saw this coat at Saks off 5th Avenue outlet, especially that it was discounted from USD $700 to $250!!! I love the fact that it’s brown, which I think is a lot more original than black, not to mention that it’s extremely warm. It’s simply gorgeous and works for everyday as well as for going out. In today’s post, I would like to share some tips I use while purchasing a winter coat. Keep in mind that these characteristics apply to cold weather cities like Montreal that require a robust coat.
1- Quality: Obviously the better the quality of the coat, the warmer it will be and the longer it will last. Down is said to be the warmest, and although it’s true, fleece & thick layers of polyester & acrylic will do the job as well.
2-Price: It’s not necessarily true that if a coat is expensive that it’s necessarily good quality. Sometimes it’s worth paying the price, but often it is not. So make sure you get the best deal for your buck!
3-Style: Winter coats like black, brown or white practically never go out of style, so you cannot go wrong. Pick a cut that works for your body and you will love your purchase for years to come.
I think overall I respected my criteria perfectly with this coat. It’s stylish and great quality for the price I paid. Whats your favourite coat?

I got the Northface Brooklyn a few years ago and I have to say it’s one of the best purchases I ever made! The sytle is more on the sporty side but it’s still very stylish and fitting!
Most importantly it’s super warm!!! Northface is known for their superior quality and they have not disappointed! I don’t ever remember a time when I wished I had more layers or my coat was warmer!
The price is another aspect that I love about it! Compared to the other brands with similar quality and specs, I think North Face jackets are fairly priced!
Overall I am extremely satisfied with my purchase!
