This weekend I had the chance to try out a new mascara: the Moodstruck 3D Fibre Lash from Younique and I wanted to share with you my 1st impressions!
How it works: You start off by applying a thin coat of your everyday mascara and let it dry. Then you apply the transplanting gel and right away you apply the fibers and then lock it all in with another coat of gel. Quick & easy!
Packaging: I won’t lie, I’m a sucker for packaging! The case is really chic and slick – love it! The fact that there are two applicators seemed a little confusing but there was an instruction guide inside the box that made the process very simple.
Effect: I noticed a difference when I applied the fibres right away – it thickened and elongated my lashes & it seriously made me look like I had fake lashes on! Naturally, I have blond eyelashes that are very straight. With an eyelash curler and regular mascara, they do appear longer, however they don’t look thick. I found that with the 3D fibre lash mascara my lashes were definitely thicker and it seemed to have made them even longer – as seen on the picture above. To be honest, I hate wearing fake lashes. I love how they look, but they make me temporality blind at 1st application and they make my eyes watery & itchy. At the end of the night when I remove them, it seriously hurts. I don’t think anyone enjoys that, and if you do, you’re really brave! :) Anyways, with this mascara in my beauty products collection, I will be staying away from fake lashes (except for weddings, I’ll let the other makeup artists handle my face, hehe).

Texture: The gel feels like regular mascara, so nothing new there in terms of texture. The fibres look fluffy. It’s an interesting texture, a little bit like flakes, but very light.
Tips: Don’t apply a thick coat of your regular mascara as it can make it look clumpy when you apply this product. Also, make sure to apply the fibres right after you applied the gel, otherwise the might not stick and end up in your eye. But, if you do it right, you should be able to avoid that. I didn’t get any in my eye!
